I wish someone taught me this sooner...

Reader,

I wish someone had taught me sooner how different life feels when you actually understand your nervous system— like your unique patterns, behaviors, triggers…basically why you operate the way that you do.

This is a huge reason I created The Embodied Shift Method in the first place. Because most of us go through life having no idea what our body is doing or why we feel the way we feel.

We just think:

“Why am I anxious again?”
“Why am I shutting down?”
“Why can’t I focus?”
“Why do I feel overwhelmed over nothing?”
Why can’t I just get it together?”

And it’s not because there’s something wrong with us…It’s because no one ever taught us how our body works and how to communicate with it.

When you DON'T understand your nervous system, life feels like (and I've experienced all of these, btw):

  • spiraling over thoughts you know aren’t true
  • feeling blocked or frozen when you want to take action
  • shutting down when things get overwhelming
  • snapping at people you love and feeling guilty later
  • feeling “too emotional” or “not emotional enough”
  • thinking you’re the problem
  • constantly trying to “push through”
  • burnout that keeps repeating
  • feeling disconnected from yourself
  • feeling like you’re always behind
  • thinking everyone else has it figured out but you

And the worst part is… it feels personal. It feels like you are the problem. When really it’s just your nervous system doing what it was wired to do.

But something completely shifts once you start listening to your body instead of fighting it.

When you DO understand your nervous system, life feels like:

  • knowing exactly what’s happening inside you and why
  • shifting your state before you spiral
  • feeling calmer and grounded, even on stressful days
  • responding instead of reacting
  • trusting your intuition again
  • releasing emotions instead of storing them
  • feeling more energized and creative
  • having compassion for yourself instead of shame
  • actually believing “I can handle this”
  • being able to get back to yourself faster
  • not being scared of your triggers anymore
  • feeling lighter, clearer, more yourself

It’s wild how much changes when you finally understand your own body. You finally feel empowered, supported, and feel like you actually have tools that work.

And honestly… life just gets easier.

Not always perfect or calm. But easier…more doable...more aligned.

This is why nervous system work is such a big part of what I teach inside The Embodied Shift Method— because once you understand this, everything else becomes clearer: your mindset, your emotions, your confidence, your energy, your goals, your relationships… all of it.

If this is speaking to you… stay close. I have something coming on Friday that aligns perfectly with everything I’m talking about here.

Here’s to your next shift,

Haley

Reader, I didn’t write a blog post last week. Could I have? Absolutely.Do I have one ready to go? Yep.Could I have scheduled one in advance and checked the box? Also yes. But it didn’t feel aligned for me. Something I’ve noticed about the way I like to share is that most of my content comes from what I’m experiencing in the moment. When I try to force it ahead of time just to stay “consistent,” it starts to feel less real. Less connected. And last week, I was in the salon a lot. New salon...

Hi Reader, I wanted to pop into your inbox a little differently this week. Normally I’m sharing a weekly blog post, but this is the week I'm in the salon. I have barely opened laptop because my energy has been focused on hair, conversations in the chair, and being fully present there. So this is me giving myself permission to not do all the things all the time — and to not beat myself up for it because I’m human. And right now, this is where my energy is meant to be. There will be a blog post...

Hi Reader, Do you ever wake up and feel like your mind is already running ahead of you?Last week, this came up more than once in client conversations and I knew I needed to share it with you too. I wrote a blog post about this practice because it's supportive, especially from a nervous system and subconscious perspective. I share why it works, how I suggest doing it in a way that feels gentle and doable, and what to expect when resistance shows up because let's be real, sometimes it does. If...
