My brave this week

Reader,

I'm back in the salon this week, which means I'm giving myself some grace and skipping the usual blog post today...without guilt. Where can you give yourself some grace this week without guilt?

At my last breathwork event, I offered a simple intention if someone was struggling to come up with their own. It was one word: BRAVE.

I've been thinking about it ever since.

Brave doesn't have to be big. It doesn't have to look like quitting your job, moving across the country or finally having that conversation.

Sometimes brave is just doing the thing that's been sitting on your to-do list for three months because every time you think about it, something in your body tightens up and says not today.

My brave this week? Moving my online course to a completely new platform and getting most of the puzzle pieces to link together.

I know. Not exactly sky-diving...although I did in 2014.

But here's what was actually happening inside of me: tech overwhelm, the very real fear that something wouldn't work correctly, doubt, and feeling like an imposter— which I'm starting to think will never go away 🙃🫠

Because I've felt this many times before, I kept going. I learned what I needed to learn, worked through the parts that were frustrating and made my brain hurt, and clicked "activate." So far everything is working the way it should and I'm genuinely proud of myself.

Here's what I know to be true: that moment of doing the thing anyway, even when every part of you is saying this is too hard, this will never work, I'm not good at this— that's a rep. And reps build confidence. This is stretching AND expanding.

And this is just part of what I teach inside The Embodied Shift Method. It's not about mindset hacks or pushing through on willpower.

It's about learning to work with what's happening inside of you so that you can actually hold the brave moments without completely falling apart.

And stop feeling like you're constantly fighting yourself just to get through the day, and start feeling confident, secure, and like you can actually trust yourself.

Here are a few posts from the last couple weeks that live in that same world. Grab whichever one feels most relevant right now.

You're Not Bad at Meditation. Here's What's Actually Going On: If meditation has ever felt impossible, frustrating, or like everyone else got the instruction manual but you, this one's for you. It's not a you problem.

How One Weighted Vest Workout Brought Me Back to Myself: Sometimes the thing that resets you isn't what you'd expect. This was one of those times.

4 Sneaky Things Causing Nervous System Dysregulation (That Nobody Talks About): These aren't the obvious ones. If you've been feeling off and can't quite put your finger on why, start here.

The Nervous System and Money Connection Nobody Talks About: Your money patterns might have less to do with your mindset than you think. This one tends to hit close to home.

I shared mine. Now I'm curious about yours. What's your brave this week?

With gratitude,
Haley

Reader, Can I tell you something that nobody in the wellness space really talks about? You can do all the right things. The breathwork, the somatic tools, the nervous system practices. And still feel like your body won’t settle. There’s a reason for that. And it might not be what you think. I wrote a blog post this week that gets into exactly that. I have a feeling it’s going to hit home for you. Read this week’s blog post The Nervous System and Money Connection Nobody Talks About and come...

Reader, I didn’t write a blog post last week. Could I have? Absolutely.Do I have one ready to go? Yep.Could I have scheduled one in advance and checked the box? Also yes. But it didn’t feel aligned for me. Something I’ve noticed about the way I like to share is that most of my content comes from what I’m experiencing in the moment. When I try to force it ahead of time just to stay “consistent,” it starts to feel less real. Less connected. And last week, I was in the salon a lot. New salon...

Hi Reader, I wanted to pop into your inbox a little differently this week. Normally I’m sharing a weekly blog post, but this is the week I'm in the salon. I have barely opened laptop because my energy has been focused on hair, conversations in the chair, and being fully present there. So this is me giving myself permission to not do all the things all the time — and to not beat myself up for it because I’m human. And right now, this is where my energy is meant to be. There will be a blog post...
